About LBDelicious

Hey. I’m LBD.

(That’s me, eating right off of my wedding cake, which was the best thing I have ever eaten. This picture and its context pretty much tells you everything you need to know about me.)

This blog is devoted to my favorite hobby: food.

Here, I’ll share some of the things I cook for myself and my husband. Something is deemed “LBDelicious” if I cook it, eat it, and/or it makes me happy.

I have no formal culinary training. Any ability I have in the kitchen is a result of other people coming into my life at the right time and mentoring me.

My mom, grandmothers, aunts, and cousins are all amazing cooks who’ve in some way contributed to me learning about food. They’re as southern as you get, and will fry anything. As obnoxious as I can be (and I was even more obnoxious as a child), they never once turned me away from helping in the kitchen, and I’m eternally grateful for their patience and for them encouraging me to practice cooking whenever I could. My mom tells me that I have been cooking as long as I could pull up a step stool to my counter and hold a spoon.

Fast forward a few years, when I began watching the Food Network. Obsessively. Giada de Laurentiis opened my eyes to using fresh, delicious ingredients, and I really learned to cook when I started using her recipes. I’m convinced that part of the reason I have a husband is because of her filet mignon with gorgonzola cream sauce and limoncello cheesecake. I also became a fan of Paula, Rachel, Ina, Alton, and anyone whose food looked so good, I just had to run out to the grocery store and get whatever I needed to make it, that instant.

My friends have also played a big part in helping foster my culinary hobby. Most of my friends are better cooks than I am, so I like to learn from what they do. And, whenever we get together, we like to eat, so cooking for each other is a pretty big deal. Basically, if you’re around me long enough, we’re going to talk about food: where you’ve eaten, what you’ve eaten, and what we’re going to eat next.

So, I hope you enjoy some of the recipes and stories here. There’s no rhyme or reason to them. I just like to cook, and I like to write. I feel better when I do both. Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think.

  1. What a small world… I was reading your post on corn dip, since I was looking for a new spin on the traditional dip. I loved your story about Lake Hartwell and Auburn. I grew up and live not far from Lake Hartwell, and I am also an AU grad! War Eagle!!
